7 End of Summer Events to Attend in Toronto

The end of the summer season is approaching but before it ends, there are still many events to attend and things to see! We have seen a huge lineup of events in 2022 as COVID restrictions have loosened up, allowing organizers to execute new events or continue on with events that were familiar pre-COVID. Here is a list of different events and things to do as the Fall season approaches!

CNE

After a long hiatus, one of Toronto’s favourite summer events is going to be re-opening this summer 2022. With much anticipation for CNE’s 144th year, you can expect what you are familiar with and a new set of attractions, events and foods that will be special to this year!

SUMMERLICIOUS

With over 200 different restaurants participating in this year’s Summerlicious event, there are a lot of restaurants and food to try. Summerlicious is all about highlighting Toronto’s diverse culinary scene, and this event is great for trying foods you’re familiar with and things that may have a twist to them! The best part about the event is that it runs from August 12 to August 28, meaning you have a good amount of time and the event is city-wide! To ensure you’re able to participate, reserve and book at the restaurants you’re interested in.

SMORGASBURG TORONTO

Originally a Brooklyn-based food event, Smorgasburg is in Toronto this summer! With over fifty different food vendors, the event showcases a variety of culinary talent within the city! The event runs every saturday up until September 10, meaning there is a lot of time left to go or you can support the small businesses again if you have already been. With the popularity of the event, Smorgasburg seems like food festival that will become familiar with the Toronto food scene for future summers!

Toronto Cider Festival

One of the best ways to cap off the summer is to enjoy some cider and perfect pairings. The Toronto Cider Festival will be back in the city for one weekend on August 26 and August 27 after a two-year hiatus! There will be over 100 different ciders from 25 different cideries across Canada. Non-alcoholic ciders will also be available for tasting for those who don’t drink or want to take it easy! This event will also be a great opportunity for you to plan ahead and find some potential gifts as the gifting season approaches. While ciders will be the main attraction of the event, there will also be delicious foods, concert performances, and attractions to attend while you continue to sip on your drinks.

Soundscapes, visual art, and ceramics - the Dis/Mantle art exhibition is inspired by the efforts of black abolitionists. Canadian artists from the Afro-Caribbean diaspora showcase their work as a part of the award-winning Awakenings program that highlights the artwork of black, indigenous, artists of colour and the 2SLBTQ+ community. The Spadina House Museum exhibit is only offered in a tour-based format to ensure the experience is optimal and educational for all attendees.

Create your own event!

There are so many Toronto events still happening but maybe the events are too much or maybe not enough for you. One thing you can always do to celebrate the end of the summer is to create your own event with people you know! From food to art, there are a variety of different themes your event can be centered around. Take advantage of the wonderful weather outside and host a picnic party or host a virtual event to learn a new recipe or create your next art masterpiece with your friends or coworkers! The options are limitless and it is always more satisfying when you tailor the events to what you like.
